Meet Melanie, mother of 2 boys, she has been training with programs inside Lauren's Playground and in person for 2 years!

Melanie is an avid fitness guru. In fact, she was a personal trainer for 8 years. She spent her days doing cardio classes, sometimes 2 HIIT sessions a day, training for marathons, and tracking her food religiously.

Despite her incredible hard work ethic, she could not do a pull up, push up, and still carried around 15-20 extra pounds.

Hi Lauren, 


I’m Donna one of your long time students (13+ years) who joined The Playground about 1 year ago.  

Since you sent a photo of yourself at 43 as my trainer, I thought it would be interesting for your followers like myself, to send a photo of themselves to you so you can see, and possibly share with the community, what an impact your vision of kettlebell training has made on your clients. 


I am 63 years old. I’ve been married 37 years, mother to 2 adult kids, ages 31 and 33, who have between them 4 grandchildren. I am and have been an athlete my entire life, horses, skiing, bike riding, hiking, yoga, but I knew when I got into my 40’s that I needed specific strength training to keep my muscle tone and bones strong. I didn’t want to workout in a gym for that. I wanted a workout I could practice at home and I wanted to follow a woman. 

 

The first video I bought was 13-14 years ago, Ultimate Conditioning with Kettleballs, and I’ve been following your training in kettle ball consistently ever since. I recently added a TRX to my basement workout area so now I include that into the kettle ball training as well. 

 I feel stronger and more energetic each year that goes by. When I first started with kettlebells, I could not complete a full body plank. Now I can hold a full body plank for 1 minute. I can keep up with my kids and pick up my 4 year old, 40 lb grandson. 

 One other thing to share is I was diagnosed with Hashimoto’s approximately the same time I started training with kettle bells. I wasn’t sure that I could change my diet and transform my body with the disease. But with time and daily consistent attention to eating whole foods and training, I feel better now than I did in my 40’s. 

I would love to see photos and hear other people’s stories from our kettle ball community. If you want to start a campaign for sharing what kettle ball has done for all of us, I’m in.

I have now been through 2 C-sections since writing this blog post and thankfully I've recovered beautifully from both with the appropriate progressions. For those who are new and are just finding me. WELCOME! First let me say I did NOT want a C-section. I did everything in my power to avoid the first and even the second. 5 Year Blog Anniversary and Giveaway

My blog was born March 10th of 2007, 5 years ago, with this  post  that started it all.  It all started 6 weeks after giving birth to my first baby.  The purpose of this blog was to share my journey of embarking as a new mother recovering from a C-section, lost strength, and fitness.  I wanted to share my struggles and perseverance in getting back to my pre-pregnancy self all while enjoying my new road in to motherhood.  I felt this was an easy and convenient way for friends and family that live all over the world, to see photos of my children and updates about our life.  What an amazing experience it  has been for me.  I never thought blogging my experiences would turn in to so much more.  Through my blogging I got the chance to connect with so many wonderful people around the world.  I never fully understood how powerful the stories would effect so many people.   It's truly been an honor.  Being able to continue to drive motivation and hope in to someones life by sharing my life
