Healthy Banana Apple Sauce Muffins (Cupcakes) - Dairy Free, Gluten Free, Low Sugar

You can call these Banana Apple Sauce Cupcakes if you want since the purpose of this recipe is for a baby's first birthday.  Although my 3 year old also loved them and couldn't get enough. I like them as well and they are great little treats.  

I made a very small batch of just 6 cupcakes. If you want to make more I suggest you double the recipe.  

1 Cup Almond Flour
1/2 Cup Organic Oats ( Certified Gluten Free - optional)
1/2 cup Apple Sauce
2  Ripe Bananas smashed
1 Organic Egg
1 TBS of Agave Maple Blend (optional)
1/4 tsp of Baking Soda

Mix Almond Flour, Oats, and Baking soda together.  Then add mashed bananas, egg, and agave (optional).  Beat until smooth. Pour in to baking cups 2/3 full.  Bake at 350 degrees for approx 30-35 minutes.  When toothpick comes out clean they are finished. Let cool and store in an air tight container.  These will be very moist from the almond flour and taste like a banana cake. If you don't mind your kid having sugar feel free to add a drop of homemade frosting on top with some chocolate sprinkles (only for the older kids, not your baby).  This is still a hundred times healthier than the store bought cupcakes filled with refined and processed crap with hydrogenated oils and food coloring. Your little one will love it and hopefully you will as well. 


Chloe's 1st Birthday

Today we celebrated Chloe's first Birthday.  I remember so clearly being in the hospital doing every thing in my power to deliver my baby naturally.  It's been exactly 1 year since the birth and I am still a bit disappointed I ended up with another C-section.  You can read more about my birth experience here. One day I'll get over it, but I am still bummed!

This year with Chloe has been filled with ups and downs.  Having kids is definitely a juggling act.  Seeing my 2 girls interact with one another is one of the biggest joys.  I now have 2 little girls that fill my heart with so much love I just can't stand it.

This year I decided not to have a birthday party for Chloe.  I just wanted to experience the moment with us.  After losing a dear friend 2 weeks ago, it's been really hard for me to want to plan any sort of party. It's not like Chloe will ever remember this any way.

 Of course I made some yummy banana apple sauce muffins (cupcakes) for her.  I made the same ones for Lyla for her first birthday, but this time I added a little Maple Agave to it. I guess we loosen up a little with the 2nd kid! It's still super healthy.  I can post the recipe if anyone takes interest.

I am just happy we all made it through the first year! Most people tell me that when adding a second child to the family, the first year is usually the most challenging. Let's see if it gets any easier.  I plan on posting some updates on how my training is going in addition to some new endeavors that I have taken on.  Life is never boring and filled with so much excitement!

Pre-requisite: Must be familiar with some of the Kettlebell basics such as the Swing, Clean, and Front Squat. Never fear, you have enough time to learn the basics to be ready for this workshop. More about Sara and Lauren

Sara Cheatham has a Master’s Degree from the University of Arkansas in Health Sciences. This proves she has the tenacity and formal education to back her certifications! Sara is the only female Senior Russian Kettlebell Certified Instructor, a hand-selected, highly sought-after position earned and appointed by the father of modern day Kettlebells, Pavel Tsatsouline. She stands-out as the lone female among only eight other male counterparts.  Sara is also a Z-Health Master Trainer Movement Coach & Specialist, working diligently for over two-years to be hand-selected once again and pass a rigorous application process. As a Z-Health Master Trainer, she has honed a critical eye that can quickly identify and accurately correct specific, individual movement deficiencies in any kettlebell drill, immediately improving kettlebell training for any body and therefore dramatically reduce the risk for short and long-term injuries as well as expediting your training goals.

Lauren Brooks has dedicated the last 12 years of her life to helping others
