I gave a quick inspirational speech at a meeting this morning. Thought I'd share it.
I have found in all my years of teaching fitness, nutrition, and health, that exercise is a way to live in the present. Reaching for foods as nature intended is a way to preserve your health and fight off disease.
The Dalai Lama, when asked what surprised him most about humanity, said:
“Man. Because he sacrifices his health in order to make money. Then he sacrifices money to recuperate his health. And then he is so anxious about the future that he does not enjoy the present; the result being that he does not live in the present or the future; he lives as if he is never going to die, and then dies having never really lived.”
Let’s all take a moment and slow down. Make it a priority to spend extra time preparing whole foods, spend the extra time moving. Doing an activity or an active hobby you enjoy. Instead of meeting a friend for dinner, meet them for a walk. Live with intent to keep your mind and body healthy. It will not only enrich your every day life that money can never buy, but will give you the opportunity to cherish those around you and become a better you.
